Find Rooks County Jail Releases

To find someone released from Rooks County Jail, first determine whether the person entered the community or moved to another custodian. The live Rooks County Jail roster covers current custody, not past releases. A sound release check uses the jail’s booking and release record, the county court case, and the receiving system when a transfer occurred. State corrections records apply only after a person enters Kansas state custody. The jail supplies the actual local departure facts, while the court record can explain the legal basis for leaving.

Rooks County Jail Release Paths

Rooks County Jail is the county’s one verified local custodial endpoint. It holds people before trial, people serving short local sentences, people held on warrants or supervision violations, and people placed there for another agency. A person may leave after posting bond, receiving credit for time served, completing a local sentence, obtaining a dismissal, or receiving another court order. In those cases, the jail release record supplies the administrative departure facts. The Rooks District Court file can show the order or case event behind them.

Departure can also mean transfer. The roster has included people connected with Plainville Police Department, neighboring sheriffs, KDOC, and other agencies. Someone may return to one of those agencies or enter a new system. A KDOC or county transfer is not release into the community. A person on probation, parole, conditional release, or postrelease supervision is outside the facility but may still have a legal supervision duty.

Confirm Rooks County Jail Release

The official Rooks roster accepts a name or booking number. A displayed match supports current public custody status at this jail. An entry can show a photograph, booking number, charges, bond, arresting agency, date, age, sex, and race. It does not show a released tab, release time, release reason, destination, archive, or date-range control. The sheriff publishes no update cadence or post-release display period.

Use that current view as the first observation, not the final answer.

  1. Search the full name and booking number, then note the time.
  2. If absent, call 785-425-6312 and ask whether the outcome was release, transfer, another booking, or another status.
  3. Ask for the departure time, release type, authority, and destination.
  4. Request the existing booking and release record in writing.
  5. Match a bond, sentence, dismissal, jail credit, or probation outcome to the Rooks court record.
  6. If KDOC received the person, search KASPER with the KDOC number.
A missing roster name is not proof of release. The jail may have transferred the person to another custodian.

Rooks County Jail Release Records

The Sheriff’s Office publishes no dedicated release-record form. A written request should state the full name, approximate booking date, and booking number when known. Ask for the booking and release dates and times, release reason or type, releasing authority, transfer destination if applicable, bond information, and booking photograph. These are requested fields, not a promise that every field must be disclosed. Juvenile, sealed, expunged, investigatory, safety-sensitive, or otherwise exempt material may be withheld.

The official contact page publishes gknight@rookscountysheriff.com, ggibbs@rookscountysheriff.com, and dispatch@rookscountysheriff.com. A phone call can identify the custodian and clarify the booking number. Ask for existing records, not a new account created by staff.

The sheriff’s services page posts a $5 report-copy price, exact change, and weekday pickup during normal hours. Do not assume that price applies to every electronic KORA release request. Ask for an estimate. Kansas law permits actual-cost fees, advance payment, staff time, and redaction costs. It requires action by the end of the third business day, though a custodian may explain why production will take longer.

Rooks County Jail Roster Limits

The roster’s compact “Date” field must not be called a release date. The page does not label it that way. No official 24-hour, 48-hour, or 72-hour release feed exists. The judicial district’s “Rooks County Jail Log” link leads to this same live roster, not an archive. No official sheriff app was found, and the sheriff Facebook link is not documented as a systematic release source.

The limited official facility material can be viewed on the Rooks County Jail page.

Official Rooks County Jail release information page

The page provides jail and visitation material but no release schedule, release door, family waiting instructions, transport plan, weekend policy, or property-return procedure. Call the jail about those facts instead of importing a practice from another Kansas county.

Rooks County Jail Court Proof

The jail gives the exact administrative departure. Rooks District Court can give the legal basis. Public case information may include bond proceedings, disposition, sentence, jail credit, probation, revocation, and closure. A bond order does not establish when jail staff processed release. A jail timestamp alone may not explain why release was authorized. Use the pair when a durable account is needed.

Search the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal and filter to Rooks County. Read the actual docket entry or document. Some public records are available only at a courthouse terminal. The clerk is at 115 N. Walnut Street in Stockton, phone 785-425-6718, and Rooks_County_Clerk@kscourts.gov. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to noon.

A scheduled hearing does not prove it occurred. A bond amount does not prove it was paid. One dismissed case does not resolve another hold. Sealed, expunged, juvenile, and other restricted records may be unavailable. Ask the clerk if a certified order or journal entry is needed.

Rooks County Jail Transfer Clues

The cross-agency roster makes disappearance easy to misread. Plainville Police Department, neighboring sheriffs, and KDOC have appeared as connected agencies. The arresting agency is not always the office that later releases or receives the person. Staff may also use “released” to mean released from Rooks custody even when another custodian takes control at once.

Ask whether the person entered the community, went to KDOC, moved to another county, returned to another agency, or received a new booking. Then request the destination in writing. KDOC transfers lead to KASPER. Another county leads to its jail. A federal transfer leads to the named federal record. Probation leads to the court order and named supervising office.

Kansas VINE has a narrower role. It covers adults in participating county jails and excludes KDOC prisons. Check the Attorney General’s live map for Rooks participation. A VINE release, transfer, or escape alert records a custody change, not the outcome of the criminal case.

Rooks County Jail History

The current complex combines the sheriff’s office and jail. HMN Architects ties the project to a successful 2014 local sales-tax vote, and its booklet describes a 20-bed design. Those are local history and design facts. They do not establish the jail’s present rated capacity, population, release hours, or release practice.

An architect’s description cannot answer when someone will leave, which door is used, whether family can wait, or how property is returned. The official jail page does not answer those questions either. The unknowns should remain unknown until jail staff confirms them for the specific release.

Rooks County Jail Release Systems

KASPER is for KDOC custody and supervision, not a local bond-release list. After a confirmed KDOC transfer, search by KDOC number where possible and compare the name, birth date, photo, conviction county, case number, current location, and status. An anticipated release date is a forecast. It does not prove the person left.

Release
The Rooks custody episode ended.
Transfer
Another agency took control.
Probation
A court ordered community supervision.
Postrelease
KDOC supervision follows the prison term.
Discharge
The applicable supervision duty ended.

A federal or immigration route applies only after a documented handoff. The BOP locator can show former federal prison custody and a reported release date. ICE’s locator focuses on current immigration detention and is not a historical release ledger. No operating state prison, federal prison, ICE facility, or separate municipal jail was verified in Rooks County.

Identity control matters across all of these Rooks County Jail release systems. Use the booking number for the local custody episode, the court case number for the legal proceeding, and the KDOC number for a state correctional record. A similar name alone is not enough. Compare the date of birth, photograph, physical description, conviction county, charge or offense, and the order of events when those fields are lawfully displayed. Save the source URL, search time, identifier used, and visible status because live records can change. If the sheriff reports a transfer, record both when Rooks custody ended and which agency received the person. Those are separate facts. A written release record is stronger proof than an old screen image, while a court order is stronger evidence of the legal reason than a brief roster label.
